Is the Premier Pet Wireless Fence Any Good? My Honest Experience as a Dog Owner


Hi everyone! I'm a dog owner living in the suburbs, and I have an energetic Labrador who absolutely loves running around the yard. For safety reasons, I’ve always wanted to create a boundary for him without having to build a traditional fence. A few months ago, I bought the PetHey Wireless Dog Fence System from Amazon, and after using it for a while, I’d love to share my real-life experience. First off, it’s incredibly easy to set up! I’m not tech-savvy at all, but I was able to follow the instructions and get everything up and running in about an hour and a half. The system comes with everything you need—transmitter, receiver collar, power cords, a test light tool, etc.—so it’s basically plug and play.

It works by creating a circular wireless boundary from the transmitter, and you can adjust the coverage based on the size of your yard. It covers up to about half an acre, which is perfect for my yard (roughly a third of an acre). You can even expand the range by adding additional systems.

Now let’s talk about the results—I’m genuinely impressed. I was a bit worried my dog wouldn’t adjust, but he actually learned much faster than I expected. When he gets close to the boundary, the collar emits a warning tone, and if he continues, he receives a mild static correction. He was a little confused the first couple of times, but by day three, he knew exactly where to stop. Now he enjoys his freedom while staying safely within the set area, and I no longer have to constantly supervise him.

That said, there are a few things to note. For example, the signal can be affected by obstacles. I have some trees and a metal shed in the backyard, and I noticed the boundary line can get a bit inconsistent in that area. I repositioned the transmitter slightly, and that helped a lot.

Also, keep in mind that this fence does not stop other animals from entering your yard. It’s designed only to keep your dog inside the boundary. A neighbor’s dog once wandered into our yard, and since my dog wasn’t near the boundary at the time, the system didn’t respond at all.

To sum it up—if you live in a house with a yard, don’t want a traditional fence, and want to give your dog some safe, off-leash freedom, the PetHey Wireless Fence is a high-value option. It’s easy to install, adjustable, and gentle on the dog. After just a few days of use, I could already feel how much easier it made my life.
